Local Day Camps and Courses
Day camps are local courses or playschemes that run on weekdays during summer holidays, usually between 8-10am and 4-6pm. The term originates from the american tradition of american children spending some or all of their school holidays at residential summer camps away from home. A "day camp" was a term coined for activity programmes held locally during the daytime so that children could attend without leaving home for weeks on end.
British day camps usually run Monday to Fridays and children attend for 1 or 2 weeks. There is also an increasing trend for parents to use daycamps as childcare solutions for odd days or regular days each week during the summer holidays, often using some kind of "season ticket" or day camp pass concept.
The SummerFun4Kids directory features all kinds of programmes from nursery schemes for under 5's to action-packed multi-activity courses for teenagers.Find day camps near you >
